Our Flood Fayre held at St Mary Chambers in late June was a real success, after an extensive mail shot, local press coverage, social media coverage and with the kind backing of Sagar Insurances the event went ahead as planned. More than 100 local residents attended, and from the feedback we have received it seems that everyone involved felt it worthwhile.
Keith Girling, Chair Rawtenstall Flood Forum said,
‘Our first Flood Fayre was exceptionally well attended and demonstrated the importance of a close partnership between all the key agencies, authorities and providers involved in flood risk management. Residents and businesses were able to seek answers to key questions including,
- “How do I find out if I’m at risk of flooding from rivers, groundwater or reservoirs?”
- “What happens to my property insurance if I’m in a risk zone?”
- “What is Flood Re?”
- “What’s available to help me reduce my flooding risks?” –
- “What are local authorities doing to ensure new developments don’t make flood risks worse than they are now?”.
The level of commitment from our partners in hosting the event, including Sagar Insurances, was key to success’
